When low mana battles come with strict restrictions and status effects they make the game very difficult. You face difficulties in making a strategy and monster selection becomes a difficult task for you. Especially when it is a low mana battle where you have limited mana capacity and choosing the best units becomes challenging.
These are actually the battles that are both interesting and challenging. The challenge is how you can survive in this battle and how you can bring your best monsters into use.
To make sure you win any battle it is very important to understand the rulesets properly and select your monsters according to them. Even if you select a few monsters if they match the rulesets those monsters can create a winning probability for you.
Before moving towards monster selection and my strategy it is important to understand which two rulesets appeared and caused difficulties in monster selection.
Ruleset 1: JUNIOR VARSITY
According to this ruleset you can only summon units and archons that cost 6 or less mana.
This is a big restriction that creates difficulty in this battle because it stops you from picking heavy high-mana cards and forces both players to select low-cost units only.
According to this ruleset you should adopt a strategy in which you try to select monsters from your deck that stay within the mana limit while offering solid value.
Ruleset 2: NOXIOUS FUMES
According to this ruleset all units start the battle poisoned.
And what happens with Noxious Fumes is that every single monster receives poison damage at the end of each round.
That is why keeping this strategy in mind it is important to adopt a strategy according to this ruleset. You should try to select monsters with good health and armor so that they survive the burning effect.
MY STRATEGY AND MONSTERS SELECTION
What strategy did I adopt while keeping these rulesets in mind?
Because this was a 16 mana battle with junior restrictions and active poison I picked low cost cards carefully to fit the rulesets and to follow my best of the strategy.
First I selected my Archon Barthalamas which helps manage the team layout within the low mana.
For the frontline position I selected Chaos Furybringer which is a solid 6 mana with decent attack power to hold the front line. He can absorb the damage coming from the enemy units and also keep on missing the enemy attacks because it has dodge ability as well.
In the second position I selected Ash Archer which is a 5 mana monster providing reliable ranged attacks. On the 2nd position, she will keep on attacking the enemy units.
A QUICK VICTORY IN 2 ROUNDS
When I observed my side and the enemy side on the battlefield it looked like this battle was going to be very fast paced due to the poison effect. Both sides brought low cost units matching the rulesets,
The battle started with attacks coming from both sides while poison effect keep on reducing the healths very quickly.
In round 1, both sides were getting attacks but in the same round the first enemy unity get eliminated which was a favor for me.
By Round 2 the poison ticks and our combined attacks quickly wore down the enemy frontline monsters. The enemy units could not survive the continuous damage and fell apart.
At the end of Round 2 I achieved a very good victory. In this way I secured a win in just 2 rounds.
I would say that the main reason behind my victory in this battle was the proper understanding of the rulesets and selecting best monsters that could handle the poison challenge.
What would your strategy be in these types of rulesets and which monsters would you prefer? We will be glad to see your answers in the comments section.
