You have probably noticed that there is a number beside your name in Steemit banner. Well that is called your Reputation Score.
The Reputation Score is basically a measure of how productive you are to the Steemit community. What value you are bringing to the steemit ecosystem and community.
Note that accounts with higher Reputation Scores are considered by the steemit community to have a greater chance of being high-quality content. So, people are going to give more attention to steemit users that have high Reputation Scores.
Note that every new account starts with a reputation score of “(25)”. The Reputation Score can go up to (80) and down to (-25).
It increases or decreases, depending on the content you provide and what other users think of your content. Your score increases with the number of upvotes, and your score decreases with flags/downvotes.
The higher the score, the more difficult it becomes to increase it further. It simply means that each time your score increases, it does become more difficult to achieve the next level of the score.
So as your posts and comments gain upvotes, your reputation score will increase. If you post something that others don't like or think it's bad for whatever reason, your rating will go down.
