Furthermore, the Internet of Things according to Ilchenko et al. (2021) cite organizations in the field, where they highlight that the number of active IoT devices in 2019 was 7.6 billion, expected to grow to 24.1 billion, along with their connections to cellular networks increasing to 4.7 billion by 2030.

So it is undoubtedly that this scenario requires a large number of connections between devices with applications in particular areas and even devices, applications, and areas that might be different. At the same time, it will demand new transdisciplinary approaches led, of course, from ICT.
Entonces es indudable que este panorama requiere un gran número de conexiones entre dispositivos con aplicaciones en áreas determinadas e inclusive los dispositivos, aplicaciones y áreas que pudieran ser diferentes. Al mismo tiempo, demandará nuevos enfoques transdisciplinarios encabezado, por supuesto, desde las TIC.
In view of this fact, technological efforts are being made to meet these needs. One of them is 5G mobile broadband, which has been boosted by the growth of IoT. Initially, its infrastructure is based on terrestrial mobile broadband networks, but due to their requirements, they have taken a look at satellite telecommunications systems.
Ante este hecho, esfuerzos tecnológicos se hacen para cubrir esas necesidades. Una de ellas es la banda ancha móvil 5G, cuyo empuje se lo ha dado el crecimiento de la IoT. Inicialmente, su infraestructura se apoya en las redes terrestres de banda ancha móvil, pero por sus requerimientos han dado una mirada a los sistemas de telecomunicaciones por satélite.

In February 2019, the OneWeb consortium launched the first six satellites into low Earth orbit. SpaceX, Amazon, and others plan to put thousands of satellites into low-Earth orbit to deliver low-latency broadband Internet globally. Specifically, SpaceX's constellation of low-deployment satellites is already the largest in history (Deutsche Welle, 2021; Kassing et al, 2020).
En febrero de 2019, el consorcio OneWeb lanzó los primeros seis satélites a una órbita terrestre baja. SpaceX, Amazon y otros planean poner miles de satélites en la órbita baja de la Tierra para ofrecer Internet de banda ancha de baja latencia a nivel mundial.
