The logic behind the old Ferarri models was simple: race, win, sell very similar cars to the public, build new racers.

In my previous post, you could read about the "civilian" 166 models:

In this post, we will focus on sport prototypes, build around the same V-12 engine:

The first one of them was 166, in form of berlinetta and spider. As in case of civilian 166, numerous bodyworks were available.

This version was made by Allemano:

and the same manufacturer made the barchetta as well:

This Batmobile-like creation was MM-53 Abarth

This one was 166 S Inter Sport. It reminds me on 159 racing version, but the sides are flat on this model:

Of course, the first association on Ferrari is some kind of Formula (166 F2):
