EVO or Evo for short represents the largest and longest-running annual fighting game tournaments & esports event in the world. Held in Las Vegas on July 14–16, 2017 it is the twenty-first installment of the Evolution Championship Series. Evo focuses exclusively on fighting games & brings together the best of the best from around the world! The tournament is a dazzling exhibition of skill & fun, as players & fans gather to honor the competitive spirit in an open format tournament that uses the double elimination format to determine a champion. Evo is open to anyone, feature stations available for relaxed free play, and offer unique opportunities to meet people from different countries and different walks of life who share your passion.
The entire event is being held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. For those that are uniform Evo has numerous side tournaments that take place. Among these, the biggest has to be AnimEVO & keeping with it's the previous tradition, it'll be returning. With a series of side tournaments, which is dedicated to "Anime~" fighting games, the event has more than sixteen "Anime~" fighting games to compete in including:

Other side events for games like Super Street Fighter II Turbo and the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ have also been confirmed.
Evo 2017 tournaments featured are, Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Injustice 2, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, The King of Fighters XIV, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The ninth game(Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3) was chosen by a donation drive which all of the funds have gone towards Make-A-Wish International. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was the winning game with Pokkén Tournament being the runner-up. Other games in contention were Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, ARMS, Mortal Kombat XL, Nidhogg, Windjammers, Killer Instinct, & Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Did you know ESPN is returning to the Evolution Championship Series and this time Disney is coming, too. ESPNU and Disney XD will air the Super Smash Bros. Wii U final begining at 6 p.m. ET & ESPN2 will air the Street Fighter V championship on Sunday beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

This marks the first time ESPN has broadcast a live Nintendo game tournament and the first live broadcast of any kind on Disney XD.
