Ingles: The aforementioned article may hurt feelings, however, I have objectively analyzed the opensea.io platform through its use and nourishing myself with the experiences of different artists who have decided to sell their art in other NFT marketplace. When I started in the NFT world, I did it with OpenSea since the internet was full of information on how to create your NFTs on said platform. I even managed to sell some of my art, but learning more about the wonderful world of tokenized digital art, I decided to make use of other platforms.

Opensea

E: People who are starting out in the world of NFT digital art, the first thing they do is search in internet where they can sell their works and all search engines suggest OpenSea. It is evident that this platform has invested money, time and effort in being positioned above many other platforms, however, not all that glitters is gold.

E: Centralization - Opensea is a centralized Non-Fungible Token marketplace, like many other NFT sales platforms, however, it works with technologies that are based on cryptocurrencies whose philosophy is decentralization. The difference of this platform with other centralized platforms is that opensea has always been accused of manipulating the NFT market in its favor, advertising the projects of its choice, in order to obtain profits from sales or with the resale of NFTs before to be listed. Nate Chastain, OpenSea Product Manager, was terminated on September 15, 2021; after it was discovered that he used confidential information to purchase NFTs before they were listed for later resale (source: https://opensea.io/blog/announcements/employee-information-use-at-opensea/). This topic is in very bad taste because many projects with a great creative value are sunk in the platforms for the simple fact that they are not of their convenience, since the platform does not have as its main objective to generate value in artists and collectors but in fill their pockets with money.

E: Another problem that centralization brings is the banning of users. Many users from Latin America have reported that the OpenSea platform has deleted their user profile and collections without getting any reason. They are usually notified that they have breached OpenSea's Terms of Service without further explanation. Venezuela has been blocked by OpenSea and you must use VPN to browse the web portal, also, if they detect that you are from Venezuela, it is most likely that you will end up banned. This ban on Venezuelan artists and users is quite questionable, even more knowing the complications they have in publicizing their work, living from art and generating income in the face of a relentless economic and social crisis, which I dare to classify as a xenophobic act.

E: Unfortunately, OpenSea is the most used NFT marketplace, but the first recommendation I give to artists who want to start in the NFT market is not to use OpenSea. From my own experience, after placing a collection on OpenSea and having achieved several sales, other users copied my collection, a fact that I denounced and that OpenSea never took action on the matter. it seems that OpenSea benefits the scammers more than the artists themselves.

Publica NFT gratis - Una plataforma de mucha basura / Publish Free NFT - A platform of a lot of garbage

E: One of the attractions of the platform is the possibility of publishing your NFT for free, however, this fact is one of the biggest drawbacks. Many people are engaged in creating spam projects and scam projects without any limitation as they don't have to invest a penny. They post anything by filling the platform with worthless posts, making noise among investors and collectors.

E: The platform offers free mining of NFT works, however, when uploading a work to opensea, it is not registered in the blockchain of the network you chose, be it Ethereum, Polygon or Solana. The work is only shown on the platform and is minted, that is, registered in a blockchain only when it is purchased, whose Gas fee (fee paid to miners and validators for recording the transaction in the blockchain) is assumed by buyers-collectors. This process is known as lazy mint, however, your works are not protected against plagiarism, since the registration is actually done when it is purchased, leaving your intellectual property rights vulnerable while the work is not sold.

E: When you manage to sell a work and check the registry in the blockchain, you realize that the smart contract that is used is not in the name of the artist, nor is it in the name of the collection, but rather it is a generic contract used by all the works that were managed by medium of opensea. The proprietary smart contract allows collectors to verify the authenticity of the Non-Fungible Token and allows artists to offer benefits to collectors thanks to its traceability. With a generic contract, these tasks are made difficult when programming applications, generating distrust in collectors, this being a reason not to buy your work.

(Fuente: https://decrypt.co/93483/bored-ape-nft-lawsuit-opensea)

E: I will only mention two cases for your analysis. Devin Finzer; co-founder of the platform, announced through his Twitter account that the platform was the victim of a phishing attack in which cyber thieves only needed three hours to steal hundreds of non-fungible tokens, valued at $1, 7 million dollars (Source: https://es.gizmodo.com/un-hacker-steals-nfts-por-valor-de-1-7-millones-de-dolare-1848570891). Timothy McKimmy; A Texas man sued OpenSea for $1 million alleging the platform knew about a bug that allowed cybercriminals to buy unlisted NFTs for less than market value. This because of; without even realizing it, he sold his Bored Ape #3475 NFT for 0.01 ETH ($26). However, the hacker who managed to buy the token from him resold it for a price of 99 ETH ($250,000).

E: This is one of the worst part as you have to make million dollar sales to get verified or be a famous artist. Of the rest, the vast majority of verification requests are rejected, even if you prove the authenticity of your collection, if you have your social networks in order, if you check that you are a human and not a bot, if you do not have a business with opensea, if you do not you are a famous person or you do not sell millions of dollars on the platform they do not verify you. The problem with this is that many artists with excellent work have little chance to grow, as collectors choose to buy from verified collections, which they trust. Unlike many other platforms, opensea is the most difficult NFT marketplace to get verified.

E: In conclusion, one of the worst NFT marketplace to the point that they end up discouraging artists, investors and collectors.
