Even though the right answer for the riddle was supposed to be "Glutamine synthetase",

I admit that Argininosuccinate synthetase (forgot about it) fits with the description provided in the riddle
pretty well as well (like "...essential for nitrogen metabolism (takes part in ammonia detoxification)").

Plus, I forgot to update the post and add the 2nd clue for the riddle on Wednesday.

So, in this case I guess it's fair to reward both participants.
