Klaytn is a blockchain platform from the South Korean developer Kakao Corp, who also owns the country's most popular messenger KakaoTalk.
To increase network bandwidth, Klaytn uses consensus nodes (CNs), which belong to partners and creators of the project and can form private blockchains as well as ranger nodes (RNs) with which third parties can be connected to the network for secondary verification and validation of blocks .
Klaytn will be used by various businesses and services, the company already has agreements with 26 companies, including game developer Wemade Entertainment Co. and Chinese travel agency Zanadu.
To launch the platform, Kakao spent a closed ICO and raised $ 90 million. The Klaytn platform itself is handled by a unit called Ground X. On March 29, Klaytn launched a public testnet, Baobab.
