I agree with your conclusion of seeing AI as an enhancer, not a competitor. Should cancer researchers feel threatened if AI discovers the cure for cancer, or should they rejoice? If people feel threatened because of job loss and therefore money loss, maybe they should have AI research ways to make our economies much better-performing and thus make everyone richer :P
