If you ask which one among their 5 senses people would rather lose last, I think most would choose their sense of sight. I think we feel our sight gets us closer to Reality than any of our other senses, and that perhaps plays into how important and meaningful we perceive the eyes to be. Plus, they're directly attached to our brain, our most important organ!
