We import a fruit that we call a 'pear apple' (in English it's Asian pear), but I wonder whether it's the same as this one, as externally it looks different. I always thought it was a modern hybridized fruit, as it does indeed taste like a mix of apple and pear. Its scientific name is Pyrus pyrifolia. Is it the same one you're talking about?
