Energy expert Brenda Shaffer is the author of a new study in the CIA unclassified Studies in Intelligence journal. It argues that a careful study of a nation's energy policies, consumption, exports and instabilities (as in blackouts) can tell you a lot about its geopolitics and vulnerabilities. Sounds highly plausible to me with Pakistan the next likely victim of energy-caused instability.
