Intro.gif

My dear friends from the great community of #OCD and #Hive in general, how have you spent this last week of rest? I hope it has been wonderful, who greets them and writes them as always, their server, alejandrop@alejandrop.

A while ago I did not raise this type of content for the motivated platform that first lacked time for it, since they are jobs that it takes a long time to do and also with the Internet problems I have had makes this more difficult, by Finally the day has come.

Years ago I had bought and updated my old computer socket 447 with a Pentium IV and just 1.5GB of RAM, and as gathering a time I was able to update it to a more contemporary: socket 775 with core 2 quad accompanied with 4GB of RAM . So I was for years using it without problems, but technology progresses daily and applications are increasingly updated, thus demanding more resources to work, leaving behind little by little until it came to work on my computer was a martyrdom every day. Starting with that it had a 32-bit operating system, which did not allow me to use my 4GB of full RAM, but, 3.5GB maximum that is what the system showed me (and they could be even less but thanks to me I have a card Graph GT520 of 2GB), the system did not take RAM resources to project graphics to my monitor, that is, the GPU.

I am a user of Google Chrome, and many of you will know thanks to so many users that exist on the internet, that Google Chrome is a browser that requires too many resources in terms of RAM storage, and it is not recommended to use it in computers with less than 4GB of RAM for this reason. Even though I always read about it, I could use my browser without problems and perform other tasks at the same time without exhausting resources, but the day came when this was no longer feasible for me. I could barely open 2 tabs of the browser so that when I opened the third one, one of the two that had already loaded simply closed due to lack of memory, and in fact, there were pages that while loading ( without any other tabs working), it just crashed the browser showing an ERR_OUT_OF_MEMORY error. For a moment I thought about upgrading the memories by expanding them but it turns out that the motherboard my computer used did not support more than 4GB of RAM, limiting it to only 2GB per socket (Yes, I tried to put a single 4GB RAM in a single DIMM resulting in failed), so with a lot of work and dedication within the platform I gave myself the task of starting to collect my rewards to be able to update my computer, since without a computer = I cannot work. That is why I bring you photographs of how this process was from start to finish. Enjoy it!

The motherboard model used in this publication is an HP model B75H2-AD that a cousin imported in batches from the United States and coincidentally only had this one left. As a processor, I acquired a Core i3-3250 3.50Ghz with dual core and 4 Threads, a processor that, although it was dual core, surpassed my old Core2Quad Q8200 in terms of processing and performance, which is Quad Core as its name indicates. The RAM memory was reused from my old computer + an additional 4GB that I acquired. In total it would be 4GB + 2GB + 2GB = 8 GB of RAM.

Segmento #1 - Desmontaje y limpieza
Segment #1 - Unmounting & Cleaning

image.png

As you can see in the photo above, my computer was a total disaster and lately I didn't even need to clean it because it worked so badly. The first thing I did was carefully remove the RAM memories:

image.png

After removing the various components: Connectors, RAMs, HDD and graphics card, my poor computer would be left like this:

image.png

And the other card eager to enter its new room:

image.png

La antigua tarjeta ya removida del chasis:

The old card already removed from the chassis:

image.png

Now, I proceed to remove the fan from my chassis which was too dirty:

image.png

image.png

image.png

With this fan, we conclude the cleaning segment.

Segmento #2 - Montaje
Segment #2 - Mounting

The first thing I did was put the fan back in its place inside the computer, looking like this:

image.png

And then the slot for the different peripheral inputs and outputs of the motherboard was placed. When you buy a new motherboard, it is almost mandatory to place the slot that already comes in its box since not all motherboards are the same in the sense of location of different input and output peripherals, as I already mentioned.

image.png

Presentamos la tarjeta madre:

Introducing the motherboard:

image.png

And as you can see, the slits fit perfectly into each I/O peripheral.

image.png

And then we proceed to fix the motherboard to the chassis, screw by screw:

This is the graphics card I mentioned above: nVidia GeForce GT520 2GB VRAM. I have had this card for many years and, well, it has been running for so long that its original fan no longer works and since I couldn't get it to replace it, I had to improvise in a somewhat orthodox way. What you see in the picture is an extractor fan from a damaged power supply, which is powered directly by the computer's power supply, from one of its +12VDC cables and obviously a black cable for GND. And believe it or not, this has worked for a long time, thus saving me the unnecessary expense of buying a new graphics card or the original fan.

We now proceed to an intermediate segment that consists of a small repair that I had to do taking advantage of the fact that I disassembled the computer.

Segmento #3 - Reparación
Segment #3 - Repairing

image.png

What you see at the top is my reader device of different types of memory (mass storage). This time I will show you how I replaced the female USB connector which is damaged, since its metal shell is already detached and without strength to hold USB-type devices, thus making it difficult to read and recognize it in my computer.

image.png

Procedí a desoldarlo:

It is normal for this to happen to the USB ports and also many times because of this breakage and the unevenness that this causes, it also tends to break the terminals that are soldered on the back (those that go to the plate) and although not I took pictures of this, found out the GND leg was broken. I proceeded to desolder it:

image.png

And as you can see, the damage was such that two of the tracks that hold the USB port to prevent movement broke. Fortunately, this did not cause damage to the main tracks that you see in the central part, which are responsible for feeding and transmitting data from the device to the logic board.

And for those who follow me, you will know that I like to recycle components that are in very good condition, and well, why buy a new one when the replacement is at my fingertips?

image.png

The USB port I recycled from a wall charger for alkaline batteries which was damaged by a short in several transistors and an explosion in a segment where it was impossible to recover the tracks, leaving only some components to be recycled or discarded.

image.png

As you can see, it is in perfect condition to be reused. None of its legs were broken in the extraction process so it is ready to be re-used.

The first point that is always made in this type of component is to solder the metal base to the logic card to prevent it from moving when soldering the other terminals:

image.png

image.png

And finally, the four pins are soldered to the logic board in this way:

image.png

Y así se vería de frente:

And this is what it would look like from the front:

image.png

Volvemos a ensamblar el dispositivo:

We reassemble the device:

image.png

image.png

image.png

image.png

Procedemos a colocarlo en su sitio nuevamente:

We proceed to place it in its place again:

image.png

After this we proceed with the following steps to assembly.

The first thing would be to correctly and carefully place the RAM memory modules on the motherboard. The first one that I will use is this 4GB one that I imported a few months ago from eBay and saved it precisely for this moment.

image.png

image.png

And next, the two RAM of my old PC, each module of 2GB each.

image.png

image.png

After placing the RAMs, I placed the power of the power supply in each corresponding connector:

image.png

image.png

Then I proceeded to place the F_PANEL, F_AUDIO and F_USB connectors in their respective ports. Both in the F_PANEL and in the J_AUDIO I had to make modifications to the distribution of the cables since they come already adapted from a LENOVO card, and although the one I had was not Lenovo, I still had to make the adaptation of the distribution of the cables again. cables.

image.png

image.png

Then the two storage units, in this case, an HDD and an SSD:

image.png

It's time to place the graphics card with the adaptation:

In the following image I indicate where the two cables of the graphics card fan are placed so that it turns on together with the computer:

Aquí se puede apreciar desde otro ángulo:

Here it can be seen from another angle:

Finalmente nos quedaría así todo:

Finally, everything would be like this:

Segmento #4 - Finalización
Segment #4 - Finishing

Once the entire system was assembled, I proceeded to install the operating system and all the following that this entails. The time had come when I had to upgrade from the Windows 7 x32 that I was already used to working with and enter a new era: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. This time I wanted to do things legally, so I installed the official version and bought a genuine license for life from the different resellers that distribute this product, leaving my Windows 10 Pro successfully validated:
