John 8:36 So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. Amplified Bible (AMP)
Hello my friends, brothers and sisters of steemit, I want to share with you this short reflection, I pray that everyone who can read this post can receive freedom through the word of God.
The Truth Will Make You Free
John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word [continually obeying My teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. 32 And you will know the truth [regarding salvation], and the truth will set you free [from the penalty of sin].” 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone. [d]What do You mean by saying, ‘You will be set free’?”
34 Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, everyone who practices sin habitually is a slave of sin. 35 Now the slave does not remain in a household forever; the son [of the master] does remain forever. 36 So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you plan to kill Me, because My word has no place [to grow] in you [and it makes no change in your heart]. 38 I tell the things that I have seen at My Father’s side [in His very presence]; so you also do the things that you heard from your father.”
39 They answered, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you are [truly] Abraham’s children, then do the works of Abraham and follow his example. 40 But as it is, you want to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. This is not the way Abraham acted. Amplified Bible (AMP)
The feeling of freedom we can have in Jesus is wonderfully real. But, the biggest problem we deal with in our minds is that we do not feel like slaves to anything.
It is normal for many people to lie, steal, be greedy, addicted to alcohol, money, tobacco or pornography.
What does the bible say about it?
John 8:34 Jesus answered, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, everyone who practices sin habitually is a slave of sin. Amplified Bible (AMP)
The word of God is our daily bread, it is the truth, so it is not uncommon for our adversary the devil to try to make us stray from the word of God to the point that we feel oppressed by living through his commands.
Sometimes we feel so proud to live life our way, that the word of God does not fit into us, the same as in this story, so we should open our hearts to the word of God to be free from inside out.
The message of this world is that you can live as you want without consequences, and, if you do not live like that you are a prisoner, however the reality is opposite, living in error makes us slaves of error, of sin. But living in Jesus is a fullness that words are not enough to explain.
I have always loved to see the paragliders flying, there is nothing to hold it but the current of wind flowing and raising that man in the sky. That sensation of freedom is real, but what makes us fly is not our wings, but the wind beneath them.
The same is the word of God for our life, it is the word of God that sustains us, but even better is the truth that will set us free.
God is spirit and Jesus said: my words are spirit and they are life, I invite you to receive the word of God today, to receive the life of God through Jesus, who loves you, I invite you to receive freedom in any area of your life that may need it.
Ephesians 2:4
But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). 6 And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, 7 [and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption]. 8 For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]. Amplified Bible (AMP)
The grace of God is enough to save us, through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance, the deep and true desire to change, we can be completely free.
Come to Jesus today, and be able to fly in the presence of God and the power of his word.
