Hi everyone :)
Let's go for another walk around Barcelona, this incredible city full of life and culture, one of the places to visit in Europe and how lucky i am to be right next door.
In spite of all the good and incredible things that we can experience in this city, there are also terrible things as in any other great city that assumes itself as a tourist spot of excellence, and i know what i´m talking about once i live in Porto-Portugal and all the awards my city has gained in recent years as a destination of choice in Europe, it has added the weight of the mass influx of tourists that end up mischaracterizing a city and its culture, bringing with it a whole series of opportunisms and attempts at monopolization and generating easy and fast money.
But today we are in Spanish territory, and considering the impact of tourism in a city, Barcelona and its inhabitants, certainly that despite extracting its sustainability from tourism, its disgrace also comes from it.
Today i am going to share some records made during some of the visits to Las Ramblas, a place well known in Barcelona for trade, a concentration of foreigners who stroll completely disoriented among other tourists who are also alienated, among true street artists, craftsmen, painters, musicians, pickpockets, vicars, cheats and everything else you can imagine.
As i used to say when we pointed at the beginning of the avenue, welcome to the urban jungle, where everything happens, where the confusion was sometimes too much.
During some of these passages we ended up choosing to leave the main avenue and walk through the parallel streets that took us where we wanted to go, but with an advantage, without many zig zags and without being approached every 5 seconds trying to sell something, like toys with flashing lights, or cans of soda, lighters, postcards, bracelets ..... I even had a confrontation with a guy who practically wanted to force me to buy some crap, sometimes it was just abuse.
The same thing happened when we chose a terrace for dinner, out of nowhere a group appeared, and in a voluntarily and a little intrusively way, took over the space and in 5 minutes they set up a pseudo cirque du soleil there and when the half-rough acrobatics finished, they started to approach the people who were having a quiet dinner and "demanding" a payment for the show .... all this happened until they were expelled by the owners of the restaurant, an authentic comedy.
Basically, this was the idea with which i stayed from Las Ramblas, although i was pleased to see very good street artists there and i am sorry that they have to share that public stage with all sorts of con artists who appear there trying to deceive the most unwary tourist.
That´s all for today :)
See you soon
Thank you for watching :)
