So the first thing I am ask is how much money do you save reloading your own ammo. So I’m going to show every one how to calculate just the individual finished bulletin price. I will be using prices from here in Alaska which are higher than most of you can buy these components.
First I will do powder. Each lb of tight group is $24.99 there are 7000 grains per lb of powder, that comes out to 0.0357 cents per grain. Now my 40s&w load is 4.4 grains. So powder costs me 1.6 cents(rounded) per bullet.
Brass I only add this if I have to buy it. It is reusable many times especially pistol. You can find it for roughly 3 cents a pice if you needed to buy some.
Primer the cost of primers I use is $32.99 per thousand. That comes out to 3.3 cents each.
Bullet. You can order online and usually save some money on this one. But I was using Berry’s 180grain plated bullets with a cost of $39.99 for a box of 250. 16cents each.
My total cost per round of 40s&w is 23.9 cents. That works out to $11.95 per box of 50. My price here to buy a box of the same ammo is $19.99-$25.99. A savings of $8.95 a box to $14.04 a box.
