“Whose stupid, idiotic idea was it to go to Med School?” Chad huffed, slamming his textbook shut and throwing himself back onto the couch. “I'm done. Seriously. I cannot spend one more second looking at

Everything happened just as Max had predicted: Drake's parents relented and withdrew the charges against Chad, and the court was swift to make state charges against him for the waste of time and resources.

Dru proved to be comfortable and casual in respect of his surroundings. A courtroom was obviously nothing new to him. He even greeted the judge and asked how his golf game was, earning him a chuckle in

Max smiled softly at her when she took the stand. “You look a bit nervous. Don't be. Just yes or no answers unless I asked for an explanation. You're Carly Wright and you are the best friend of Savannah

“It's not good.” Kat said as she entered the door, dropping her bags at her feet. Savannah had jumped out of her seat as soon as she heard her keys rattle in the door, and was waiting for the latest feedback.

“Damn it, this kid just puked on me!” Bill called out loudly. “Someone get me a damn cloth.” Savannah's eyes were watering and her throat burned. Carly came running to her side as soon as she'd seen her

Kat allowed Chad to stay home from school for a few days while the swelling and bruising went away, provided that he swore to not leave the house, reminding him that in leaving him without adult supervision,

Chad worked like a horse the next day, raking leaves in the garden, mowing the lawn and anything else he could find outside to do. The sun was already low in the sky, but the brightness still made his

Savannah felt much more human after her shower. She had intended to shower much earlier, but hadn't wanted to disturb Chad when he was sleeping so peacefully. She dressed in her normal denims and an old

Savannah stroked his long dark hair out of his eyes. It was nearly long enough to tie back, she thought, picturing him with it in a tight ponytail. He stirred in his sleep and rolled onto his back, bringing

“Just send Spinz to come and get me.” Chad spoke softly into the phone. “I should have enough to get Oscar and his henchmen off your back.” Dru's voice was jittery but the gratitude in it was evident.

The car ride home was uneventful, as Carly's dad was happy to listen to his girl chat away about how fun the party was, and how they'd all jumped into the pool. He simply assumed she had a swimming costume

Chad hadn't bothered to dry his boxer shorts off. He'd simply removed them when he was in the bathroom and slipped his denims straight on along with his t-shirt. With most people still in the pool or outside,

Cheers erupted from the party goers, and several of them followed suit by stripping down to their boxer shorts and jumping into the pool. Savannah stood gaping, lost for words. When he surfaced again,

“If you miss the bus, you're walking!” yelled Savannah from the bottom of the stairs. It'd been a rough transition with Chad moving in, but they'd made it work somehow. And tonight, she was taking him

Recess was usually spent sitting on the grass in the sunshine. Although until recently, Joshua had joined them for the first half of it. His absence was hardly missed however, as Carly had literally begged

The drive to Dalton High school was uncomfortable for Savannah, because she knew without a shadow of a doubt, the story of her being publicly dumped and humiliated would already be news around the school.

True to her word, Savannah spent the day avoiding Chad, by lying on her bed and reading her book. The pages filled with wizards and dragons and mythical beings allowed her to escape the harsh reality that

Chad was disorientated when he woke many hours later. He was still fully dressed, although one of his shoes had fallen off somewhere, and his head was still throbbing. He sat up slowly, taking in the room’s

A frantic Kat answered the door along with a tearful Carly and a pair of police officers. Much fuss was made and many tears were shed before Carly was calm enough to go home after accepting a lift from
