Since last year I have always wanted to take my girls to Honeymoon Bay in the south coast of NSW. The pictures are Instagram worthy and in fact that is the reason we went there for the day. The three hour drive from our house to the bay did not dissuade us from our road trip.
We arrived there after the check point. Yes there is one. I didn't know this place is a rifle range. Did not bother to look up the full details but it seems you have to provide your details and how many people are with you when you enter. I had thought it was a National Park ranger station to collect fees into the park. The line was long but it was moving well.
I have to thank God aircon in 'Bob' works great or else I would have three women up my throat complaining about the heat. Yes, we named our Jeep 'Bob'.
Only one carpark. There is a camping area by booking I presume. Will most definitely camp here one day with the family. I was disappointed at the turn out. It seems the whole of Australia was in attendance on the day. So didn't take any pictures at all because there is no justice to how I can edit a million people crammed into the hamlet/bay. Hence my desire to come back there on a week day and away from the crowds.
I did make this on the beach that was near empty on the other side of the rocks.
I have to say, I think I will explore making gif animation when I get my head around them in the not too distant future.
Behind the rocks in the distance is the bay. Away from the crowds is another beach. Bindijine beach. White sands. Clear azure waters. Freezing tot he touch. Perfect sweltering heat cool down treatment. I can honestly say that with the water temperature the only thing that was missing was a cold beer in my hand while sitting in the water. But we can't all have everything we so desire while being able to eat the cake.
Even the clouds seem like the are posing for the pictures because they are keeping themselves as a backdrop of a beautiful blue clear sky. There was no humidity in the air so when you stepped out of the sun and into a shade you instantly feel the cool in the air.
After spending a good two hours swimming and just basking in the sun we decided to head home.
But as it turns out my niece had an accommodation in between the bay we were leaving and home so we decided to pop in to pay them a visit. It was near another beach in Gerringong.
Strong winds..
That does not stop the kids from going to the beach though. The water looks extra crisp with its big waves. I think this is a surfers dream.
Big waves for big surfers. Or crazy kids that want to brave the cold unforgiving waters. Either way the waters beckoned them in. Even I the staunch opposer of the crystal clear blue was enticed into its freezing cold embrace. It's not that cold I stutter as I get clear of her embrace.
Followed by the frantic search of a dry towel. Teeth chattering.
Some are already accustomed to its effect make their way off the serene windy sands to embrace the warmth behind the dune.
The pack take on the waves....
At the end of the day they finally come out of the water.
Shivering but adamant they are all not cold or need a towel. With the adults telling them off to get dry and get dressed.
But that is what a day in the beach is all about.
Sun.
Wind.
Sand.
Runny noses.
Chattering teeth.
Shivering bodies.
