I don't own a lot, but the little I do own are in my room so I get protective about it. The door to my room back in the Philippines has lots of cutouts from magazines, or phrases I printed from various websites basically telling everyone who would try to enter my room to back off!
Now that I'm in the U.S. I don't have warning signs posted at my door but I do make sure that my room is locked.
Okay, ruined is an exaggeration but when I see a dog-ear or a small scribble on any of the pages that I did not do, it feels to me like the book is ruined. I am a bibliophile and I make sure to keep the books in good condition as long as I can. I am not greedy with my books but my only request is that you take care of it as I do.
One time, a friend returned my book, and the second page was cut in half. I would understand if it was an accident but the way it was cut was like a scissor ran through it. I got upset. She said she didn't know how it happened. I don't know if that was true but I never let her borrow my books again.
If you're borrowing someone else's property, please make sure to keep it in a safe place and take care of it like it's yours.
As of this writing, long lines are a common occurrence in the Philippines. I'm talking about waiting in line at ATMs or inside the bank, and most especially, waiting in line at government agencies. I understand that the country is constantly trying to find ways to speed up the system, but until then, Filipinos will continue to experience long lines.
Understandably, you would see long lines at amusement parks, restaurants, or cafes and if I really want to experience the rides or have the food, I'd have to wait...but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
It's bad enough that we have to wait in line, now here comes the people who think they are more important and just have to go first. Do not cut in line! Please be respectful of others who arrive early and wait for their turn.
