Well I guess it's time to show off my green thumb!!!
Microgreens are leafy vegetables which are harvested just after they sprout as shoots(they're called micro because they're so small). Although they can be used as a means of adding flavour to a meal, they can also be used as sort of 'food aesthetic' and are primarily found in high class restaurants.
They add taste to their dishes with their distinct flavours and delicate textures(yummy!!). They have various colours and textures and can provide different tastes varying from sweet to spicy...I'll go with the sweet ones though. They are often used for garnishing salads, the plate itself(aesthetics) and even sandwiches.
Their sizes range from about 2.5cm -8cm and this is inclusive of their stem and leaves. They can be produced from various types of vegetable and herbs by cutting the stem just above the soil line. The cotyledon leaves would have fully developed and it would also sport a pair of partially developed true leaves.
Hope this answer your question @runicar
