Modinomics is yet to deliver ……– was the headline of an article (opinion editorial: Op-ed) written in the respected international financial daily ‘Financial Times' published from the hub of the most influential financial capital of the world, London. How professorial was the article? In our assessment, the article had no substance whatsoever. It was more a political article than an economic or financial article which one would associate with a prestigious financial daily like ‘Financial Times’. We, therefore, decided to write an exhaustive and detailed rebuttal to the Op-ed. Each of the points brought up in the Op-ed was taken up in a separate article and rebutted through the prism of data and facts. A total of eight articles have been written by us over the last two month period.

The links to each rebuttal article are given below. The issue being analyzed is evident from the title of the rebuttal article itself. We have researched each topic in detail and have taken credible data from national as well as international sources. Almost all data has been drawn from authentic sources – Government of India’s published reports and websites, World Bank, International monetary fund, Reserve bank of India, and so on. Where possible we have also given the link to URL of the data source.

Based on our analysis and supporting data, we find no merit in the Open Editorial of Financial Times. It is extremely surprising that the Editorial Board of the financial daily of such high repute lends its name to such a shallow article. Our submission to Financial Times would be that they either withdraw their Open Editorial or publish our articles to enable their readers to judge what is fact and what is twisting the facts.
