Ci sono musicisti che segnano tutto un periodo della tua vita. Per un certo lasso di tempo, forse mesi o addirittura anni, li ascolti, li ascolti, li ascolti. Una playlist senza quel musicista non è una bella playlist. Lo senti per radio e metti il volume a manetta. Sembra capace di parlarti, di darti la carica o un'emozione, anche solo facendo una nota. Uno di questi musicisti per me è stato Buddy Guy. A 22 anni, ebbi l'opportunità di andare un mese e mezzo negli Stati Uniti per imparare un po' l'inglese. Destinazione Chicago!
"Chicago??" Questa era una domanda che prima di partire mi sentivo dire spesso. "Perché Chicago?" E io, quasi arrossendo: "Per il blues...". Esatto, la città del blues, "the windy city", i locali, i chitarristi, la storia. Il "Buddy Guy Legends"! Mi ricordo quando ci arrivai davanti, di giorno. Rimasi ammaliato a guardarlo per un pezzo quel locale. Dentro di me speravo di veder passare Buddy, e io in fondo, lo vidi! Molti diranno che a Chicago, anche se è chiamata la città del Blues, non è che si respiri musica a tutti gli angoli. Eppure se si ha la voglia di cercare e l'immaginazione necessaria, si può ricostruire e calarsi in quegli anni dove molti giovani talentuosi, partendo dal delta e risalendo lungo tutto il Mississippi, cercavano fortuna in quella grande città. Giovani che partiti con qualche spicciolo e una chitarra, la fortuna l'hanno trovata. Come lui Gerorge "Buddy" Guy.

There are some musicians that they mark a period of your life. For a certain time frame, maybe some months or years, you listen to them, and again and again and again. Every playlist without that musician, it's not a good playlist. You hear him on the radio and you raise the volume to the maximum level. He's like able to talk with you, to give you the charge or an emotion, even just by playing a note! One of this musician to me, was Buddy Guy. At 22, I had the opportunity to go in the USA for a month and a half to learn a little bit of english. Destiantion: Chicago!

Exactly, the city of the blues, the "windy city", the music locals, the guitarists, the history. The Buddy Guy's Legends! I still remember when I was in front of it one day. I was enchated and I remained to look at it for a long time. Inside me I hoped to see Buddy walk away, and at the bottom I saw him! Many people may say that in Chicago, even if it's called the city of blues, you can't really smell the music. Though, if you want to look for it, and you have a little of immagination, you can build and live that years where a lot of talented young musician started from the delta and followed the Mississippi river to look for theyr luck in that big city. Young people that left their home with a penny and an old guitar and they finally found a real fortune. Like him, George "Buddy" Guy.
