"Less Make-up, more Skincare" is the devise of Korean women, known as the most demanding beauty product consumers in the world.

Korean women use at least 10 products for their daily skin care routine, because extensive skin care has always been part of Korean culture.
The skin care routine is deeply rooted in the everyday life of Koreans, as they learn from their earliest childhood on, by going with their mothers to the bathhouse (Korean: Jimjjilbang) to scrub off dead skin of their body with a sponge until the skin is fresh and clean again.

Step 1 - Removing the make-up:

The pre-cleansing products dissolve and remove make-up and sebum while maintaining the skin's moisture level. Impurities are removed without irritating the skin.
For this procedure you should use an oil cleanser or an oil-based cleansing balm- since most make ups are oil based, it is the easiest way removing oil with oil.
The product is massaged onto dry skin and then emulsified with a bit of warm water.

Step 2 - The deep cleansing:

The products for deep cleansing rid the skin of impurities and horny skin flakes and prepare it optimally for double moisturizing.
For this purpose, you should use a water-based cleanser that is specifically adapted to your own skin.

» Dry skin: cleansing milk or balm
» Oily / combination skin: cleansing foam or gel
» Sensitive skin: depending on the oil content of your skin (see above), make sure that it contains no perfumes or alcohol.

The cleansing product is spread over moist skin and should be rubbed into the skin gently.
An optimal supplement for deep cleaning is a cleaning brush, available for manual or electric use.

Step 3 - Peeling:

The peeling provides a particularly intensive yet gentle cleansing to remove comedones and horny skin flakes and to optimally prepare the skin for subsequent care.
Depending on the skin type, there are also different products available here:

» Dry skin: peeling mask, powder or mechanical peeling with granules (1-2 times per week)
» Oily / combination skin: see dry skin (2-3 times per week)
» Sensitive skin: peeling mask or powder (maximum once per week)

Step 4 - Toner:

The toner, or "refresher", is applied onto the skin to remove harmful substances together with the residues of the facial cleanser and restore the skin's natural pH level.
It has a calming effect and prepares the skin for the following care steps.
It is important to use a non-alcoholic facial toner. I prefer to applicate the product with cotton pads, but you can also use your hands.

Step 5 - Essence:

The Essence consists of a light texture and is a moisturizing liquid to prepare the skin for the next care steps.
It accelerates the cell renewal of the skin, has a refreshing effect and ensures a smooth, radiant skin appearance.
This is "tapped" into the skin with the hands.

Step 6 - Serum:

Consider boosters, serums and ampoules as concentrated essences that directly treat the problems that cause the most concern.
Whether tired skin, large pores, pigmentation, wrinkles or acne, the serum is the ideal skin refinement step.
Like the essence, this is also gently tapped into the skin.

Step 7 - Mask:

Koreans take a sheetmask in this step, as the active ingredients are very highly concentrated in it like in a serum.
Of course, cream masks can also be used, matching your skin type.
Leave on for 15-20 minutes and repeat 2-3 times a week as needed.

I love them!

Step 8 - Eye cream:

In contrast to the rest of the face, the skin on and around the eyes is very thin and therefore requires special care. Whether anti-wrinkle, to reduce eye shadows or just moisture - there is the right product for everyone.

Step 9 - Moisturizer:

Hydration is your way to fresh, radiant skin, so it is important to find a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.
They are available in many forms - from an emulsion, lotion, gel or cream - all of which are used to seal the moisture in the skin to fill it up and smooth fine lines.
A richer cream should be used at night because this is the time when the skin regenerates.

Step 10 - Sun protection:

Sun is one of the biggest factors of skin aging, because even when there is no sun, UV rays are always present.
They also cause pigment spots, which can be prevented with suitable sun protection.
Depending on the length of stay in the sun and the country in which you are, the right UV factor should be chosen.
