▶ The suppression of plant diseases, the supply of nutrients to the soil and the production of bioactive compounds such as vitamins and hormones that stimulate plant growth.

The effectiveness in the use of microorganisms is achieved when the optimal conditions for metabolizing substrates are present, such as availability of water, oxygen (depending on whether they are obligate aerobes or facultative anaerobes), pH and temperature, as well as the availability of energy sources.
For all these reasons, the research was focused on evaluating the benefits of EM on Chinese ocus plants (colocasia esculenta), which is reported to be one of the first crops domesticated by man, originating in Southeast Asia and cultivated under various names, from which the corm is consumed.
According to FAO, corm is one of the first six most important roots and tubers in the world, for its high nutritional value of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and amino acids.

It is valuable in tropical and subtropical countries, for its nutritional benefits and digestive qualities have proven to be superior to the rest of the group of tubers and roots, so the demand for this crop is increasing in many countries, on all continents and levels of development.
