Thank you my young friend, @seki1. After I read my first draft of the post I realized I kept saying "we". It felt as though it was happening to me.
There are so many others who aren't.
I am so acutely aware of this. As I think you know (because I've written about it) I was very poor when I was a child. I never received even basic childhood vaccinations. No medical care. The first time I was treated by a doctor was when I was given an experimental polio vaccine at school. I was in the first grade and so confused. The doctor grabbed my arm and I promptly passed out.
I think healthcare and food are basic human rights. These days I have plenty of both, but that wasn't always the case.
