The Deer Hunter is a war critique. It is populated by people who are imperfect. . It is a film that portrays people who are stressed, tested, and who in the end come to accept each other. No good over evil. No mafia. Tragic, though, to be sure.

Terms of Endearment likewise is about imperfect people who just try to live their lives. No bad people. No good people. People who are jealous, and vain and selfish. And yet they somehow manage to forgive and accept. The family does not collapse because a father is absent. The family collapses because people are weak and make poor decisions. It is a movie essentially about love. About how we are all imperfect and yet somehow we can love each other in our imperfections. No good over evil. There are no good people. No evil people. Just complex people.

The Godfather parts I and II were great. I found Godfather part III almost unwatchable. So, I won't discuss that. I and II however once again show the complexity of human nature. The characters are almost Shakespearean in their complexity. Also the ensuing tragedy could almost have been written by Oedipus. Tragic end from tragic human flaws.

I don't see in those movies what you see at all.

I didn't see any serious life lesson in A Pain in the Ass. I saw pure comedy without moral justification. As a matter of fact, it is rather perplexing that people can be killed and yet there is comedy.

Thank you for your feedback. I think our cultural perspectives lead us to see different things in the movies.
