The people of my country do not favor war with Iran. We did not and do not. It is true a minority, mostly Trump supporters, do support this war. If Trump puts boots on the ground and we begin to feel the pain of the war more at home, this 37% support will surely sink.

As for petro dollars: Most people in my country do not think in those terms. This is too complicated. They don't think that far. Politicians and business leaders may think this way, but most people in the country respond more emotionally to the war: what is it costing them personally? Is U.S. sovereignty compromised? Is U.S. security compromised? Finally, the matter of national pride may enter in. That always happens in war. We are not there yet. Mostly my fellow countrymen want out of the war.
