That's not a healthcare system. That's a shakedown.

I read about universal healthcare in England and Canada. There are a lot of complaints about those systems. About poor service and long waits. Thee healthcare systems do not seem to well funded. But people are not impoverished after a single illness.

My husband and I are covered by Medicare (not an Advantage plan) and a supplemental plan. When I read what medical facilities and doctors charge, I'm stunned. Insurance never pays the stated amount, not even close. But someone out there, someone who doesn't have insurance, is getting charged the full amount. We are fortunate to have excellent coverage between the two plans.

I know Medicare for all is called socialism, but our current private healtcare system isn't working. I think if we have enough money to wage wars around the world, a well-funded Medicare for all system would be a good option. Then hospitals and doctors would have to curb their costs because Medicare would be negotiating fees that are reasonable. I say well-funded: consider healthcare like a war, a war against disease and for the people. If we think of it as war, maybe we would find money for it.
