I didn't know some of the terminology...slickrock, for example. Had to look it up. Turns out a slickrock surface has really good traction, unless you are driving a horse across the path. Then the metal of the horse's shoe would tend to slip. Which is why early settlers called it slickrock. At least that's what I read on the Overland Girl travel site.

Did the kids remember the last trip, especially the younger one? One of the children is so young in the earlier picture.

Beautiful pictures. Memories...not just for the kids but for you and your wife. However, you'd never get me on those cliff-hanging roads :)
