this war is not about oil.

I didn't think it was. And it's not about Epstein, either (some think the war is a distraction).

There is no way to tell what it is really about because we (most of us, maybe not you) don't know anything. But I do think that Iran has been a thorn in the side of US/Isreal ambitions in the Middle East. I think not only is Iran proper an obstacle, but its proxy agents are also thorns.

Thinking aloud, ....

Interesting article I found in the Times of Israel about a meeting between Kushner, Witkoff and Netanyahu, RE: Gaza. Kushner and Witkoff were also negotiating with Iran before the war broke out. I'm not sure how earnest those negotiations were. The U.S. (rather Trump/Kushner) has ambitions in the Middle East, especially with reference to Gaza (as per the Times of Israel). With Iran around those (I think ridiculous) ambitions were never going to happen. Just a thought, but the January meeting certainly is interesting.

As for the oil supply, my son sent me an AIS map of the region showing tanker traffic and he indicated that not only was Hormuz important, but so was Gulf of Aden/Red Sea. If the Houthis act up again and oil to the Mediterranean is blocked, will that affect prices?
