No surprises here, though I thank you for taking the time to elucidate the support for Trump, et al. I'd be the first to admit that the Democrats dropped the ball when they did not allow an open primary and handed the election over to a doddering old man. Harris was just a fill in. Also, Democrats focused on turn-off issues such as trans rights. They got lost in the weeds.
As for communism. How ignorant can people be? I'm sorry, I can't forgive them that. They were running from government control? How about the unitary executive? Now there's government control for you. Oh, no let me rephrase that. There's control by one man who runs the government.
If the people who have experience with communism can be sold a bill of goods so easily, then we are lost. That such ignorance can sweep through a population (mistaking befuddled Democratic policies for communism) is appalling.
I can understand coal country liking Trump. Self interest over patriotism. I can understand oil and gas country liking Trump. Self interest over patriotism. What about my neighbors? No oil. No gas. No history with communism. They just like the man. That I don't get.
Thanks very much for your explanation. I think these supporters should do some reading in world history and see how quickly the rights they claim (especially the right to bear arms, which from today's news seems to be under attack) can be snatched away from them.
I hope you forgive my emotional response. I am despondent over the killing today and the way everything is going in our country.
Thank you again for taking the time to write this blog and lay it all out for us.
