午前中…オセロットのメロディさんはヒーターをつけてもらっておやすみ中でした。

A kotatsu is a traditional Japanese heating appliance. It is a low table with a thick blanket laid over it, and an upper tabletop which holds the blanket in place. The inside of the kotatsu is heated, and people place their legs under it while sitting on the floor.
In modern times, kotatsu are electrically heated using an element but traditionally charcoal or coal briquettes were used. Kotatsu were invented in Muromachi period, about 600 years ago and have been popular ever since.
There are two types of kotatsu. "Hori-gotatsu" have a recessed floor so people can sit with their legs positioned as if they were sitting on a chair. The type simply called "kotatsu" do not have the recessed floor and are the most common type found in Japanese homes.
Besides being comfortable, kotatsu also have low running costs which contributes to their popularity. There are various sizes of kotatsu available, ranging from those built for individual use, to large designs with long legs and matching chairs that can be used as a dining table.
