I travel to Chicago often as it is my hometown but I realized I'd never really blogged about it here on Hive. So here are some cool details from my most recent visit!
Fall is my favorite season overall, and Chicago just makes it so much better. The changing colors of the leaves are vibrant and the air becomes a nice, crisp cool as opposed to the humid summers. While summer in Chicago is fantastic to be outdoors, fall truly surpasses it in every way. You'll see people getting back into routines and running/working out, sports are back in session, and there is an understanding that this is the final stretch before the brutal and long winter arrives so everyone is making the most of it.
I used to live downtown near the loop when I was in Chicago so I try to make it a point to visit the heart of the city every time I'm there. Whether you are near the river walk or out by the lake, it's hard to not get into the fall spirit. This time around I met up with some old friends to enjoy the best season in the city and roam around downtown like I was back in school again. The nostalgia of the season is unmatched, and I expanded on that by getting together with people from my past and doing things I used to do.
One tradition I enjoy every time I go is making sure I get a good slice of deep dish pizza. If you've never tried it I highly recommend it if you ever visit the city. People like to claim it isn't pizza because you have to eat it with a knife and fork, but you're truly missing out on the experience if you never try it. My favorite topping is garlic!
I only stayed for a couple of days and it was dominated spending time with family and friends. I'll make sure to do more updates on my next visit!
