No matter the rate of how bad and corrupted the world may have become, with people acting against act of humanity, self-centered and all about themselves, there are still good people whose kindness and heart of love rewrites the history of one's life, establishing the fact that no matter how dark the cloud may be, there will always be a white part.
Kindness doesn't have to be forced, it doesn't have to be huge, it doesn't have to be gigantic, and when it is shown towards a fellow as a genuine one, that is the only time it can really have impact in the life of whom it was shown to.
The most amazing part is that people who show this heart of kindness don't actually see it as a big deal but the normal thing they were meant to do. Probably because it has become a part of them and not something they have to struggle to do which is why they won't also rely on you appreciating their kindness or not.
An act of kindness I once received which ever changed my life started when I saw a displayed portrait beside the road with the artist's phone number and right there, I decided to make one for my boyfriend and from there met with the artist himself. One or two conversations because I couldn't hide my love for drawing, he asked me to bring my sketchbook along when coming to get my work. You know that feeling of someone feeling anxious to see what you've done especially as a girl, I felt special.
Not that I don't always receive compliments for my drawings right from primary or basic school but I don't really count them serious enough to build on because it wasn't coming from a professional until that day came around. After then, he literally dragged me into learning after seeing the potentials I had cos left with me, I wasn't ready to learn without paying for apprenticeship but he said I should start and must start, which marked the beginning of my art journey.
He wouldn't know what he did for me back then but it really really had a great impact in my life. With that experience, I wouldn't ever say there has been anyone especially a young talent I see who has passion or the traits of drawing and I'll let them go easily. It is either I train them or make them see what they have, enough to have the confidence to start and not hesitate like I did for years because of a professional validation I hadn't gotten yet.
I remember the last boy I took on training. He had the passion, wanted to learn and I wasn't fully available anymore but no, this talent must not wither because of me and this got me sacrificing the weekends I have for myself in training him and he was far better off than before by the time I was deployed for my youth service.
It wasn't something done because I simply want to replicate what was done to me but because I know how it feels to be helped in building what you have when you personally don't believe you can so I am always determined to extend that kindness as well.
Kindness can't be forced. When it's forced then it's no longer a kind act and when when it's a kind act, it surely extends like when water is poured on a tiled floor.
