Taking responsibility for our actions remains the best thing we can ever do as humans but as nature or habit would have it for some, shifting blames becomes an escape route so that we can feel relieved of the guiltiness that our actions brings if at all there is any unit conscience left.
This is the more reason why we have brought AI into one of the chairs on the blaming table. Like I would always say and write whenever there is a prompt on this particular topic that, there is no justification to blaming an innovator for building something for the usage of people just because it turned out to be abused by the users. We own the accountability of whatever we do with these innovations either rightly used or wrongly used.
How would we blame AI for the misusage of its users. Just like blaming a furniture builder who made perfect cushion for people's bad usage of sleeping on it instead of sitting. That is no longer his responsibility to carry. Or let's even say blaming those who made cutleries and knives for people who use it as a means to hurt fellow humans. It's absurd when you think about it and that's the same for when we blame AI for people who misuse it.
Why should an innovation suffer the consequences of actions on behalf of the users when users can actually be brought to book themselves and reprimanded for their actions.
I've seen AI videos of popular and influential people, particularly celebrities that are mostly used for ambassadorial purposes been generated to promote fraudulent projects, apps and any activities of its kind because they know people would actually believe anything these celebrities say since they wouldn't promote what has not been validated to be true. The worse part is that you would hardly be able to recognize it as fake and AI videos if you're not really into AI stuffs before or aware of these celebrities personalities been used with AI models to impersonate them.
And we all know that we're in a law abiding country or world in general even if enforcement officers may not really be enforcing but then culprits should be brought to book and punished for their acts rather than blaming it on AI because no matter how much we have the bad users, there are still multitude of good users who find AI very useful to their daily legit activities.
The only adjustment I think could be made about it is that, just as all these models can detect prompts that has to do with minors, violence and the likes to reject generating images or videos for them, then the same can be done to reject prompts and decline generating videos that has to do with generating promotional video using celebrities or public figure images.
In conclusion, for every misuse of AI, the user should be liable to shoulder the responsibility and consequences of their actions. Humans should be accountable for any reckless acts and not blaming what was originally meant to help us out.
