In life, we make different mistakes and that's fine. But there are mistakes we make that can hurt and hunt us for life. Some mistakes can be prevented if only we had someone who helped us or put us through. Some mistakes are terrible and can never be corrected, and It's better not to make them at all.
One of those mistakes we make as youths is choosing wrong course of study in higher institution. And choosing wrong course can also mean choosing wrong career. Choosing wrong career can lead to frustration. Frustration can lead to depression. And depression can lead to death if care is not taken. Many don't know this because no one ever explained to them.
Also, many youths are beseiged with psychological, social, vocational, religious, emotional and educational problems. Hence, they only have a vague image of the future.
As a result of these, outside influences like peer pressure and entertainment industry through the internet, television, movies, video games and music are having greater effect on youths , shaping their perspectives more than ever before. Something needs to be done to correct these imbalances for a better and peaceful society.
I'm sorry, religion can't help this out. Even our schools can't help us. Our society is even contributing more to this harshness on us. But I guess, loving parents or guardians can help. But where are they? These people should be our guide but they have given their duty to our teachers or nannies. Some parents are caring but they have no time. Some have time but aren't caring. And this affects our psychological pattern of life.
As youths, we need to discover ourselves. We need to build ourselves so as to shape our world. If we ain't helping ourselves, I'm afraid no one will help us. We shouldn't look for validity elsewhere but in God and ourselves. Discover yourself and you'll know what you really can do. Build yourself and you'll build a nation.
Do not worry if your parents ain't there for you when you needed them. Trust me, you need to work on yourself so that you'll be the best parent to your children. They mustn't go through your pains.
