The gamut of emotions. Some goodbyes were easy, some were hard. We met new faces, all of whom made us smile but the extent is yet unknown. But Saturday was a great taste as to what the future of AFC has in store I feel.
I wish we would have signed a keeper, a center back, and a defensive midfielder, but I have no complaints that Wenger went balls-to-the-wall on our attack. I really think that was the crux keeping Ozil from agreeing a new deal. I think he wanted assurances that we take our title fight seriously, that money would be spent to replace $anchez, and that he would have compatriots on the pitch that want to be there as much as he does. I admit I've been critical of Ozil the past few seasons, mainly the days where it looks like he couldn't give a fuck on the pitch, and deep down thought that he was the one I would be happy to see leave and keep Alexi$ in place. But not I see it was the opposite. Alexi$ wasn't 100% playing for the club, he has selfish tendencies that were exposed on numerous occasions (over-possession resulting losing the ball, the attitude when he was subbed off, the rumors we heard of dressing room bust ups). You can NEVER deny that the man loves the sport and wants to play to with, but I think he wanted to win for himself more than the team.
Now, Ozil the maestro is here to stay another 3.5 years and here's to wishful thinking that the trophy will return to the Emirates next May.
