I can't help but think of them as some kind of metal beetles. Huge beetles that cannot fly, but instead can transport us wherever we want, as long as it is by land. They are these American cars from the 40s and 50s, from the last century, that swarm in Havana as if they didn't know that we are in the middle of the 21st century.
The rain and bad weather do not stop them, not even the dangerous greeting of the sea overflowing the boardwalk. There is the Morro Castle, with its lighthouse, watching them come and go along the avenue by the sea.
Its colors seem to tell us about an extraordinary past, full of night parties, races between friends, romances at the end of the day.
They refuse to be those fat, bored, sleepy old men, hidden behind the doors of some museum, turned into scrap metal or the curious collection of some antique lover.
