We must be very careful what we allow into our hearts and minds, because the spiritual law of sowing and reaping is always in motion—whether we recognize it or not.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” – Galatians 6:7–8
When you give in to lustful desires, worldly entertainment, negative influences, or sinful patterns, you are sowing to the flesh, and the fruit of that sowing will be corruption, confusion, and separation from God. This is what leads to the gradual perishing of the outward man—the flesh grows weaker, dominated by cravings, addictions, and spiritual blindness.
That is why Apostle Paul warned us to put our bodies under subjection:
“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” – 1 Corinthians 9:27
When you keep feeding your flesh, you cannot please God (Romans 8:8). Your desires will dominate your decisions, and little by little, you will drift away from the Spirit of God.
Walk in the Spirit — Not in the Flesh
Now you understand why walking in the Spirit is non-negotiable. The flesh is always at war with the Spirit. If you continue to obey the cravings of the flesh, you will miss the spiritual inheritance of the Kingdom of God.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16
Many people experience deliverance but fall back into bondage because they fail to fill the spiritual vacuum left behind after the demon departs. Jesus warned:
“Then it goeth, and taketh with itself seven other spirits more wicked than itself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.” – Matthew 12:45
That makes eight spirits in total now ruling that person. The returning demon comes back with greater force to kill, steal, and destroy the spiritual progress that had begun.
Fill the Gap with God's Presence
If you’ve been delivered, don’t leave the house empty. Fill it with:
The Word of God
Daily prayer and thanksgiving
Fellowship with believers
Obedience to the Holy Spirit
You must actively guard your heart, fill your mind with truth, and stay in tune with the Spirit of God.
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” – Proverbs 4:23
Let the Holy Spirit take full residence in you. Only then can you resist the devil, walk in freedom, and enjoy the abundant life Jesus promised.
