Hello steemians friends, in today's post I will mention a series of tips that helped me a lot when my son was young and was entering the initial education stage for the first time, I hope that someone else can serve and be interested in the information.
Give good instructions helps children know what we want from them, children like to give clear and precise instructions because it helps them to know what the limits are; it also lets them know what is expected of them, avoids or prevents them from being in danger or hurting themselves.
I'm going to leave here the 4 tips that the psychologist gave me when I entered my first level of pre-school or initial education that helped me a lot for the education of the child.
1.- Get your child's attention: make sure your child is paying attention and is not distracted when giving instruction, to get the attention of the child a parent must make eye contact with the child, use their name and keep the attention with the child so that the child knows that it is a moment that he has to pay attention to what the father is going to tell him.
2.- Of the instruction: the clear and specific instructions are the most effective for young children because it teaches the children what the good behaviors are.
When possible, tell your child exactly what you want him to do, instead of telling him what he does not want him to do; For example, telling him to put the crayons or colors in the box is to tell him clearly what to do. Now if you tell him: do not leave the supplies out of the box, your child may not know what you want him to do.
3.- Verify compliance: make sure your child follows instruction, it is important that you think about whether you gave clear signs, with enough detail to determine if your child is being disobedient or possibly did not understand what was asked.
4.- Add a consequence: the consequence should come immediately after the behavior, if the child is not behaving as one asked him to behave it is important to give the child a notice so that the child understands that what he is doing is not acceptable , then you are given a consequence and a warning of what may happen to you if you continue disobeying; Explain clearly to your child that the consequence is not following his instruction.
After completing the consequence, return to a positive attitude with your child, do not stay angry or give a sermon on the instructions.
I hope that these humble tips to give good instructions to your child will help you connect with him and improve the father-son relationship, thanks for reading the post.
