All my life, I have never witnessed such an embarrassing situation as the one i saw recently.
First, I was invited by a friend to a wedding ceremony, today being Saturday. I was making plan to attend it. But my friend and other friends of hers zoomed into my compound requesting that we all attend the traditional first which took place yesterday at the bride's compound.

After the traditional rites inside the house, it was time for the couple to come out outside. The groom and his men came out first, greeted everyone and sat down. It took a long while but finally the bride and her friends danced out.

What a sight! What a beauty! As a female, why should i be interested in the beauty of another female? But, really, this lady was so beautiful that even a blind man if present would lament about her beauty. As she danced gracefully and smiled, she became more beautiful. I thanked God for creating her so beautifully. Nearly everyone started snapping and videoing her as she dances around 'playfully in search of her husband'.

Then in a flash, i heard people shouting: "Everybody off your camera, off your camera". But why should i off my camera? Is anything the matter? As i looked again, Oh my God, my beautiful lady had fallen. She fell down and immediately started convulsing. She was jerking on the ground, with foams coming out from her mouth. She has epilepsy. Many who didnt understand ran away but many too came to her rescue, fanning her, arranging her clothes which was almost revealing her underwear. Finally they carried her away into the house. Oh, what an embarrassment. If you were her husband or parents what would you do?

Her husband tried to help but they told the husband not to worry. The husband went back to his seat and was sobbing. I pitied him. If he loves the lady, this is a cross he has to carry until help comes.

That was how the traditional marriage ended, those incharge of food came around and served food and drinks, some ate, many refused because they were very sad while some took theirs home. I just was empathetic all through. I was just putting my self in the shoes of the lady's family members and her in-laws. It is such an embarrassment to both families. I was just wondering what and how could such a beautiful lady have found herself in such a mess with epilepsy? So i made a little research when i got home, after relating the story to my people.

WHAT IS EPILEPSY
Epilepsy is a disorder that is chronic, that causes unprovoked, seizures that occur most times, (recurrently). A seizure is a sudden rush of electrical activity in the brain.
I learnt that epilepsy is not a lifelong disorder, but this disorder can be managed with drugs and other methods.

SYMPTOM OF EPILEPSY
Siezure is it. Although it depends on different individuals but mostly, it is caused by seizures, the victim begins to convulse also most times. More so, there are many types of siezures.

These siezures are characgterised by the following other symptoms:
i) A blank stare
ii) jerking of the muscles
iii)loss of awareness
iv) stiffening of the muscles
v) No control of the muscles
vi) A sudden fall

Do you know that the victim may not know all these happened to him? After the seizure, he becomes unaware of everything.

CAUSES OF EPILEPSY
I) Injury in the brain
ii)Brain malfunction
iii)Tumor in the brain
Iv) stroke
v)Infection such as meningitis
vi) Inadequate oxygen to the brain
vii) It could be hereditary. This happens when a baby even before being born gets infection from the mother due to disease, poor nutrition, etc

HOW TO HELP
If you are present when a person whether a friend or stranger begin to have siezures, do not run away. The siezure do not last long.
i) help to remove objects that can cause more injury to the patient as he/she jerks
ii)Check if to find medical record card and head straight to the hospital for further help
iii) Calm the crowd.
iv)Loosen any clothing that may be tight around the neck of the victim
however, do not attempt to give liquid, it could choke the person
CURE
See the doctor as quickly as possible who would help manage it with some medications.

One of the above causes must have been responsible for the lady's epilepsy but whatever the cause i pray it doesnt repeat itself today , her wedding day. The embarrassment will be more because there will be more crowd. I pray her husband be able to put up with this predicament until something is done. In all i wish her a happy married life.

Thanks for listening to the gist. I just wanted to share
