I attended a funeral service of a friend and after all I saw there I began to reevaluate myself.
She was a friend from yester years and she also got married to one of my elder brother's friends.
I thought I knew enough about her until she died. A lot of people said so many good things about her that made me wonder why good people die.
She was a 42 year old lady. So young to be gone, I think. But in just 42 years of her life on earth, she had influenced so many lives, both young and old. I thought that as a young lady, her burial service would be filled with youngsters. But no, even older ones who ordinarily shouldn't attend the funeral service of a someone younger( like some culture has it) all attended.
Here is a cross section of me and my family members who attended. Mum, Aunt and her husband, cousins and elder/younger ones. It was a reunion but not a happy occasion to meet again.
LESSONS LEARNT
Humility-- I learnt that no matter what anyone thinks he or she owns in life, be humble. She was a bit comfortable and her husband too was well to do. But she was always the one reaching out to people. She throws caution to the wind when with dear friends, only when you visit her at home would you believe she has the comfort of life. She was very humble. Here she is with my brother, playing.
Happiness-- She was a happy lady. She takes each day as they come. She finds every reason to party and merry with friends. As if she knows she wouldn't live long, she enjoys hosting friends, " just to laugh". Find reason each day to be happy. Happiness is free.
Self Sacrifice-- She was always there for friends and any who needs her help. I remember one night that my sister-in-law called her around 2am to help redirect a lost truck driver carrying gravel for her client to a site. Without much ado she accepted. By the time my sister-in-law called again to ask if she was able to savage the situation, she replied that the driver had offloaded. She was so nice, caring and endearing that if friends are invited to a ceremony or party, many of them will call to find out if this our friend would be coming too, else they wokld say they won't attend or beg to have her around. With her qualities, she was almost like a celebrity. We all loved her. But now, she is gone. 😭
Influence and make impact on someone. The world is uncertain. Affect someone positively
Dress and Grooming-- She was a fashionista. Her dress sense is commendable. She enjoys looking good. Life is too short, we are not going to the grave with our possessions. Look good with what you have and be happy with your self. Enjoy your life while you can.
Godly qualities-- She was full of inspirational quotes, praising God and directing all her success in life to God. She inspires me to remember to be grateful always. She was a virtuous woman.
Oh, if tears would bring her back!. Then she would be with us. Her kids ( oldest 13 and the youngest 5), her husband and all her friends will remember her for a very long time. Her husband has kept asking us to help find her. I wish I could help bring back their friendship.
I am just a friend of hers but since I got back, I have been so unhappy cos it's a great loss. I feel sick out of pity for her, sad that she had to leave her old mother too who had lost her husband and older daughter last year. May Jehovah comfort them all.
Well, may the resurrection hope comfort us all. Just a little while longer, death shall be no more and all those dead and in God's memory, will rise again. So says the scriptures-- Rev 21:3,4. John 5:28,29.
How glad I will be to see my dead loved ones again. It will be a dream come true. Making this post gives me opportunity to have fond memories of her and always see her face again until the day we meet again.
Friends, all that your hand finds to do now, do with your power, cos life is too short. Impact positively on others, leave a mark in people's lives. Let them remember you for good. I wish we will never have to die, ever, ever, ever.
Our hearts bleed.
Yours, Adore.
