"Cucca" is the Sicilian dialect word used to indicate the coquette. It is a bird of prey visible especially at night. According to some superstitious people, meeting the owl "brings bad luck". According to other people, on the contrary, the coquette is the symbol of wisdom. Sometimes craftsmen create ceramic objects representing the coquette.

"Cucca" è il termine del dialetto siciliano usato per indicare la civetta. Si tratta di un uccello rapace visibile specialmente di notte. Secondo alcune persone superstiziose incontrare la civetta “porta sfortuna”. Secondo altre persone, al contrario, la civetta è il simbolo della saggezza. A volte gli artigiani creano oggetti di ceramica che rappresentano la civetta.
