Jeff Kent was another star of my childhood, no doubt about it. He played from 1992-2008 for the Blue Jays, Mets, Indians, Giants, Astros, and Dodgers. Kent played in triple digit games in every season he played, eventually totaling 2,298 games before retiring. I personally remember Kent first as an Astro. I sometimes would get him and Craig Biggio confused.

Jeff Kent was always a player that surprised me with how many home runs he hit. I always used to picture him as a typical solid contact hitter, but the man had plenty of power. Kent averaged about 22 home runs a season with a career high of 37 in 2002. He finished his career with 377 home runs in total. Those are pretty great power numbers for a second baseman!

His power only compliments the fact that he really was a good contact hitter as I remembered. Kent had a .290 batting average throughout his career. He was just a complete hitter. He even had 1,518 RBIs.

Kent was the NL MVP in 2000. That season he had ridiculous numbers as you can tell from the card. He was also a 5x All-Star and a 4x Silver Slugger.

He had a pretty great career. He had a fair amount of Hall of Fame consideration, but ultimately didn't make it in. He is on the Giants Wall of Fame though.

Kent never won a World Series, but he did compete in one and played pretty well on October 24th, 2002, exactly 21 years ago!!
