It would be impossible to fully describe a career as decorated and as dominant as Derek Jeter's career was. This man was a household name for as long as I can remember and is arguably STILL a household name.
Jeter played pro baseball for 20 years from 1995-2014 and spent his entire career as a New York Yankee. The Yankees were already well known as a dominant franchise by the time Jeter came around, but Jeter only intensified the aura of what the Yankees are.
Jeter's official rookie season in 1996 was absolutely insane as he won Rookie of the Year and helped the Yankees win the World Series. Can't think of a better way to start off a legendary career! Jeter would help the Yankees win four more World Series titles including achieving the always legendary THREE-PEAT as the Yankees won the World Series from 1998-2000. Jeter would win his final ring in 2009.
I think of ridiculously consistent batting and tremendous fielding and speed when I think of Jeter. I simply think of excellence when I think of the legend.
Jeter has an insane 3,465 hits, 260 home runs, 1,311 RBIs while holding a .310 batting average. Just unreal. He's a 14x All-Star.
The only thing Jeter DIDN'T accomplish was winning an MVP. It's quite baffling. He placed quite high in MVP votes several times, but never got it. It's really just a minor blemish though, this man is baseball royalty and his legacy is immense.
The Captain made the Hall of Fame with ease in 2020. He could have retired after 2000 and possibly have made it eventually.
Can't say enough about Derek Jeter, a REAL, ACTUAL legend. I know I throw that word around a lot, but this guy is truly legendary.
