Cards From My Personal Collection: Carlos Guillen 2003 Topps Baseball Card
This may not be a rookie card, but it's still interesting to think the best is yet to come for a young Guillen!
Carlos Guillen was a quality shortstop for the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers from 1998-2011. He played six seasons in Seattle and eight with the Tigers, although Guillen's prime, best seasons came with the Tigers in Michigan.
Guillen was a consistently solid hitter throughout his career holding an impressive .285 batting average in over 4,600 at-bats. Guillen's three All-Star selections all came while he was a Tiger. He didn't earn an All-Star selection in 2006 despite that possibly being the best season of his career. It's definitely one of them anyway. He had a .320 batting average that season along with 19 home runs and a career high .400 on base percentage.
Guillen would retire perhaps slightly early at age 36 in March of 2012. He retired with 1,331 hits, 124 home runs and 660 RBIs.
