Well, the A's did not have a good time in Houston that's for sure. The series was officially lost on Saturday after getting absolutely beat down 13-2. Kade Morris struggled mightily in his MLB debut, giving up nine runs in four innings. The Astros recorded three homers and a total of fourteen hits. Definitely a forgettable game.
Yesterday the A's had a decent bit of revenge, as they shutout the Astros 5-0 thanks to another excellent start by rookie starting pitcher Gage Jump! This is Gage's second consecutive fantastic outing! He pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed zero runs. I think the A's have something with this dude! Even in his first start I had a good feeling about him, he just passed the eye test for me, and now he's simply looking like a veteran! We'll see if he can keep this up!
Brent Rooker hit his 10th homer, and Nick Kurtz hit his 12th. I feel like, in a perfect world, those two guys can lead the A's to greatness! Hopefully Brent can warm up a bit more as we progress deeper into the season.
Tonight's matchup against the Brewers is pretty scary, I'm not going to lie. The Brewers are one of three MLB teams with forty wins. For pretty much the past decade they've been a model of consistency, it's very impressive. Starting in 2017, excluding the shortened 2020 season, the Brewers have averaged nearly 92 wins a season! That longevity is epic!
For the A's, a franchise trying to re-establish themselves and earn respect, this is a very interesting test!
Jeffrey Springs is on the mound, hopefully he can help give the A's a chance.
