However, gaming and e-sports continues to grow heartily in France so we got in there at GA2018 for 15 euros on behalf of BANANATIC games website (who are sponsoring their own team now) and had this video put together of this epic LAN party...
If you're a gamer, get yourself along to one of these kind of events, where you can follow/support the popular teams, meet top gamers and streamers, browse stalls, set down and play anywhere in certain zones, re-play retro games, or just mingle with fellow enthusiasts and supporters/players of the latest top games. Maybe you'll even find yourself in a big team, competing for large prize money such as:

The biggest expectation was of course the Fortnite tournament with a total cash prize of € 10,000. Everything was ready: Good internet connection, players, spectators... But Epic Game Server was not so cooperative. It had a huge failure... We thought that the tournament would be canceled, but... they managed it! This slight delay could not interfere with the great atmosphere. That tournament won by Oserv who has left Poitiers with € 3,200 of additional cash in the pocket.
We also attended some other nice games, especially - Overwatch! The big winner of this tournament is a local team sponsored by the city of Poitiers, the Orks Grand Poitiers. They won € 3,200!
With big names like Solary, Jiraya, Gotaga, Skyyart, and so on, Cosplay for 3 days, Freestyle pilot Fred Crosset (10 times Belgian champion and 3 times US champion), show, fun, ... the GA is a great event!
Next year will be the 20th occasion for Gamers Assembly in France, near Poitiers.
Extra note:
I'm pretty amazed by how much the gaming scene has grown, and e-sports too. Personally, I enjoy the fighting games like Street Fighter, just because they're so accessible. It's only by actually attending (and engaging with such an event) that you realise more about the scale and popularity or gaming these days.
E-sports is more than just a bunch of geeks sitting down to push buttons or click. It can be highly social, technical, exciting, imaginative, competitive/strategic... and lucrative.
