We as humans are born with some kind of pre-programming. We're pre-programmed to react a certain way depending on the situation.
Do you remember the first time you've ever received some kind of constructive criticism? Most of you probably do.
Did it make you feel like you were worthless? Did it make you feel angry?
The one important thing we need to know is that while criticism from people can sting, it can be a learning process. That anger that develops inside of us in those situations should be re-directed.
It should serve as the driving force that allows us to work harder and work smarter. It should drive us to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone.
We were born to suck at everything. But as long as you put in the work consistently, you'll suck less.
Whatever criticism you'll receive, don't take it as a personal attack. Take it as an opportunity to know your weaknesses.
Weaknesses were made to be strengthened. Whether you do this is entirely your decision.
In one of my episodes of 90 Second Nuggets, I asked people what are the few things that they suck at. There is no shame in stating what you suck at and what you want to make yourself better at.
In the comments below, feel free to share the times you received constructive criticism on something. How did you handle it?
