Today I want to share a couple of my favourite quotes and what they really mean in the world. They're remarkably similar but amount to the same thing and can really help us move forward if we fully understand and apply them…
So, what do Socrates and Buckminster Fuller have in common? Well, they made it into this post for a start. But they're also the providers of these 2 quotes that I think about from time to time, both from a personal standpoint but also what we're doing in the world.
More importantly where to focus our time and energy for optimum effect and enjoyment…
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”
“In order to change an existing paradigm you do not struggle to try and change the problematic model. You create a new model and make the old one obsolete.”
I'm sure that many reading this - and considering where I'm writing this - can apply these sentiments to Hive and the whole crypto and blockchain world in general. We are very much building a whole new financial system, along with a shake-up in social media and more, then tying that all together for a massive paradigm shift.
The issue is often we're so stuck getting into fights over the way things are, getting angry, pointing fingers and having a jolly old debate. Then of course, nothing really gets done and we repeat the same merry-go-round.
How about focusing our efforts on what we can control, the future and playing our part in building that ideal?
That's not to say, ignore the past or anything bad going on. Glance at it, then use any lessons or help it drive us and move on to brighter thoughts and actions. Most of the 'bad' is what we have shoved down our throats anyway, and is not necessarily to be believed or allowed to affect us.
Much of this is by design to keep us in our places so to speak, but we do have it in our power to make great change and build a world to our specifications.
With Hive/Crypto/Blockchain it is very clear that a new system is being built. Whether the powers that be like it or not is irrelevant. Whether other people like it or not, is not our concern (other than productive feedback). If we build it and it turns out to be better, then people slowly but surely will come over and see what's going on. If they like it or are curious for more, they will stay.
Then over time, the existing financial system (along with the tech behemoths and the like) will either die out or settle into a new role. Perhaps co-exist but the game will be changed. No protests and shouting required. Building a new world and letting that develop and speak for itself.
Of course, this mindset can be applied across the board and it's a good habit to get into thinking and acting in this way. You feel a lot better and empowered, and more of a belief in what the possibilities are. There will always be curve balls and plenty not going smoothly, but the best way to go about things I'd say.
As do our old mates Socrates and Fuller (and I suspect many more wise folks), so good to take a leaf out of their book where we can!
